For my latest project, I designed an autumn-inspired ball gown using vibrant African fabrics and hand-applied gemstones, blending texture, color, and movement into a couture statement. This shoot was brought to life in collaboration with photographer Lilia Ahearn , whose vision captured the elegance and storytelling of the design

MEET THE DESIGNER
Shalom Aburu
My fashion journey started in Uganda, where I was raised around rich color, texture, and creativity. I began by making clothes for my dolls and later taught myself to sew and pattern-make by taking apart thrifted garments. After moving to the U.S. for college, I committed to fashion design as a career, blending the vibrancy of my upbringing with a modern design approach.
